Wholly Health, Byron!

Just when I thought this month couldn’t get any more exciting, I jumped on a plane to Byron.

Those of you who know Byron recently, probably know of Influencer impact.

But it also has a long-standing association with healing.

It was historically used as a safe, neutral ground where different tribes would travel to trade, resolve disputes, and seek natural medicines.

Natural landmarks like Wollumbin (Mount Warning) and Nguthungulli (Julian Rocks) were considered highly sacred and spiritually charged. There is even a theory that many locals and practiioners attribute to the volcanic rock and quartz providing a ‘positive energy’ for emotional and physical healing.

I have been visiting Byron for years with my family as I have close family who live there.

And this weekend, I was invited to explore the Byron Bathhouse with its many offerings of salt scrub, magnesium pool, red light therapy and infra-red sauna.

This was particularly interesting for me as I am about to shoot my next instalment of my elemental series on ‘heat’ where I delve into the health benefits of sauna and compare Finnish with infrared sauna. And my first episode explored the benefits of water in hot springs.

I didn’t quite make the cold plunge due to my cold allergy but I braved a dowsing of my limbs into a cold shower as a wake up contrast to the heat elements.

I also discovered later that the attached Health Lodge has medical retreats much aligned with what I am proposing in the private hospital space but this is a boutique facility. Here you can opt to have a full health workup and really look at honouring your need for self care.

And what if we can show the potential of such programs to keep people out of hospital or from needing re-admissions due to chronic illness?

Would this be integrated into our private health system?

Those of us in the innovative health space, are willing to go all in to make this a reality.

Whole person health has to be the gold standard of care.
